Burna Boy Speaks on BBC Focus on Africa “ I Never Pay Attention to News or Politics”

During a recent chat with Paul Bakibinga of BBC Focus on Africa , Nigerian Afro-fusion superstar, Burna Boy gave insights on his music, British roots and latest project.

He disclosed that contrary to rumors back in Nigeria that he was wanted in the UK, he returned home to work on his career and be closer to his roots. When asked what makes up his Afro-fusion genre, he described it as being basically Afrobeats fused with other genres ranging from high life, reggae, dance hall and more. He added that although he was billed to perform in the UK in 2013, he was denied a visa but 2016 was truly his golden year.
Interestingly, despite getting inspiration from the world, he denies indulging or paying attention to news, current affairs or politics. In his words ” They never have any good news and I do not want to be depressed” .
The singer is still basking in the aftermath of his very successful first UK concert and is currently on a media tour.
