Tertiary institution is a place to see any kind of character you can ever imagine
as most persons want to leave life to it's maximum capacity. Base on this,
issues are bound to arise among room mates irrespective of the fact that the two persons
in question may have been friends in the past or they have just got to know each other during the
screening process. No matter how you came to know your current room mate, this issues must
at one point or the other arise.
What are this problems or issues and possible solution
1: House keeping: A situation where by only one person makes effort to keep the room clean
why the other person does nothing but scatter the house living every where dirty and unkempt.
This is one of the major thing that brings about quarrelling and in some cases fighting amongst
room mates as the one who does the house keeping job keeps complaining with improvement.
Solution: Share the house hold jobs amongst your self or endure till the year ends.
2: Poor management: Most students loves to show off there by living extravagant life style
and in some cases at the detriment of their room mate as they give out food items without
enquiring from the owner (their room mate) this becomes a problem when the person
refuse to give or stops buying food item.
Solution: Buy your personal cardboard and give when your comfortable.
3: Cooking: A situation where Mr.A brings the food and do the cooking every day for Mr. B to eat
is actually one of the major problems as almost 95% of room mates face this problem
of who will cook and who will bring money for food; this have led to most people spending more money than necessary on daily bases
eating junks and going to eateries rather than prepare food in their Lodge.
Solution: Before you start staying together agree if you will cook together or separately and
make cooking roster.
4: Eating Habit: If you have a room mate who eats too much then both of you are bound to
have problem because the pot will always be empty when you come back from lecture.
Solution: Use the solution in 2 and 3 above.
5: Friends and Noise making: Most persons don't like keeping much friends why others do; if you don't like much friends
and your room mate loves bringing friends home then both of you will always have issues.
Solution: Stay with a like minded person or endure till end of second semester.
